Tyler's First Birthday Party!

Wow, now that was an event. Tyler's party turned out great, since we were in the company of good friends. That makes living overseas a bit easier, but it would have been so nice to have family join in the fun. Tyler loved playing with all of the other kids and playing with his new toys. Enjoy the pics!

He's Walking!!

Well, it's official...we have a walker!! He's actually picking himself up to stand from the sitting position and then taking off. Check out the videos! The first one was a trial and the second, a mastery! haha

Birthday Party

Well, we kind of decided last minute that we would throw Tyler a little birthday party with some of our friends and their kids. Basically, it will just be a little get together to eat some cake and ice cream and watch Tyler devour his first cake. I will certainly be posting pics and video of that great event. The party is Thursday and I am finding it very very hard to find any party decorations at our PX/BX. I would go on the economy and look, but I have no idea who the characters are, and the exchange rate is awful right now. I may end up making all of my own decorations. I guess that wouldn't be too awful. He enjoys Elmo, so I may try to decorate a cake by painting Elmo?? Oh boy, this will be interesting.

So, Tyler is in a very fun stage right now. He's walking around everywhere and he's starting to cuddle just a little. I didn't think that was ever going to happen since he's constantly on the go go go. I caught a pic of Tyler and Joe when Tyler was actually willing to sit for half a second.

Ready for Halloween

It's getting darker a lot sooner and it's cold cold cold. We are not ready for winter, or I guess fall, but we are ready for Halloween. We got Tyler a little costume, which he's not going to be going trick-or-treating since he can't have the candy yet, but we were invited to a couple of Halloween parties that we will be attending, pending Joe and I's costumes arriving. We just ordered them. Joe and I are planning on being a tavern wench and tavern man?? This should be interesting. Tyler is going to be a little lion. He looks so cute. I will post pics after Halloween.

Happy belated birthday to my nephew, Connor. He was three on the 18th. Man, time does fly. Sorry we missed it Buddy. I'm sure it was a good one.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that...

Here are some timeline pics to get those caught up on Tyler since our last posting on the old website.

Walking

Wow, it is really hard to get footage of Tyler walking, because once he sees the camera, he wants it, and the fastest way to it is by crawling right now. But, we managed to get a little bit of him walking tonight before bedtime.

Cold

Brrr. We are definitely not ready for this cold weather. I took Tyler on a walk today, and he had to wear a fleece sweatshirt, a winter jacket, hat, and gloves. It was freezing!! Poor Joe had a physical training test today at 8am, and he said parts of the track were ice, unbelievable. Now that I think about it though, last year, it snowed in October here, on Halloween though. The reason I remember that so fondly was because I was in the hospital still. Oh well, we will think of it as the sooner it begins, the faster we get it over with?? Sure, that sounds good.

So, an update on our neverending education. Joe is going full blast with his classes, taking two at a time now in hopes that he will have it completely finished before he gets out. I have two more classes after I finish the one that I am working on (two more weeks). I have never been more burnt out in all my life. As my mom keeps telling me, I can see a little of the light at the end of the tunnel (but it's more like a mirage of a flicker). I don't even know why I'm getting this degree now, I can't even find any type of job over here. Patience, I know. I don't have much though...thanks dad :)

Tyler is walking more and more. He walked across the room today, and stood from the sitting position without holding on to someone/furniture. He brings me his favorite books to read (and wants me to read each one 10 times), points to the light and says "na" which is code for light, but then again he says "na" for everything. He continues to amaze me everyday, and I think that's truly why I haven't gotten a job, he wants me to stay with him every minute, and I'm not going to lie, it doesn't/wouldn't hurt my feelings any to stay home with my little man either.

Trying out a new blog...

So, it has been a while since we have posted on our other website, but we were finding it difficult to upload photos with the other program, so here we are! I hope this works much better. So much has happened since we last posted. Tyler is almost 1! It just seems unbelievable how fast time has flown, which is good and bad. It is good, because that means it shouldn't feel that long until we're back home for good, but bad because Tyler is growing up too fast!! Since the last post, we had a visit from family (Jim & Carolyn). It was such a wonderful visit, and it was so jam packed of events that we wanted to them to experience and sights to see. We took them to Garmisch, saw a castle, visited Stuttgart, saw the black forest, and also walked up to Germany's highest waterfall. I hope they had a great time; we sure didn't want them to leave. One event that took place while they were here was certainly priceless, Tyler took his first step! We are eager for our next visitors to arrive, which will hopefully be Alan and Luann in the Spring.

On another note, I am looking into finding a job back home for the '10/'11 school year. We think it will be a good idea to be somewhat established before we get out for good. This will also give Joe a chance to visit much more. To some, this may sound selfish on my part, to be back home without Joe, but it will be less than a year, he will be able to visit about 3 times, and I can get a job. We made a list, and there are more pros than cons. We'll see what type of job opportunities open up, if any! I am looking for a job (any job) here to pass some time away and make a little extra on the side, but there is nothing!! I will continue to look. I'm having a blast with Tyler here at home, but he needs to have some playmates too. We'll see.
